Forget the stereotypical image of a chaotic Disney World vacation. Let’s be real- long lines and crowds can completely zap your energy, especially for a 7+ day trip. But guess what? There’s a secret to enjoying Disney without losing your mind. Amidst all the excitement, there are hidden pockets of peace where you can recharge and soak up the magic. Let’s uncover 10 ways to transform your trip into a perfect blend of fun and relaxation.

10. Play Mini Golf
Challenge your putting skills with a round of mini-golf. Sometimes, you need a break from the craziness, and mini-golf is the perfect escape. Disney World offers two mini-golf experiences (with two different courses at each location).
First, there’s Disney’s Fantasia Gardens, located across from the Swan & Dolphin, which is like stepping into a magical dreamland with those dancing ostriches and mischievous broomsticks from Fantasia. It’s so much fun! If you prefer a more classic golf vibe, check out Fantasia Fairways – it’s like a tiny version of a real golf course.
If you prefer a “cooler” atmosphere, head to Disney’s Winter Summerland, located beside Blizzard Beach. This festive course transports you to a winter wonderland with two 18-hole options: one featuring sandcastles and surfboards for a tropical twist, and the other showcasing a giant snowman and ice castle for a classic holiday feel. Winter Summerland is your spot.
The best part? If you’re hitting a water park before 4pm, mini-golf is included with a Park Hopper Plus ticket. Just don’t forget the sunscreen, especially around midday – that Florida sun can be intense!

9. Campfire!
Sit under the starry sky with a magical Disney campfire experience. After a day filled with excitement and adventure, there’s no better way to relax than gathering around a crackling campfire. Many Disney resorts offer campfire evenings, complete with storytelling, sing-alongs, and the best park in my opinion… roasting marshmallows. Imagine sharing laughter and stories with loved ones as you roast the perfect marshmallow for a gooey s’more.
To enhance the night, pack a cozy blanket and hot chocolate to sip as you watch classic Disney movies projected under the open sky. These magical evenings create lasting memories and offer a perfect opportunity to unwind and connect with your family. Be sure to check your resort’s activity calendar for campfire schedules and details.

8. Ride the Walt Disney World Railroad
There’s something undeniably charming about the iconic Magic Kingdom Railroad. Riding it is like hitting the pause button on your day. Imagine trading in those long lines and rushing from one ride to the next for a leisurely journey around the park.
You can people-watch, soak up the atmosphere, or just close your eyes and relax. It’s a chance to slow down, breathe, and appreciate the magic in a whole new way (one of the main reasons I love the PeopleMover). Trust me, your future self will thank you for this break.

7. Watch Fireworks from Outside the Parks!
Want to skip the crowds but still catch the fireworks? While there’s no doubt that witnessing fireworks from within the parks is magical, there’s something really special about watching the show from an uncontested spot outside the park.
Several Disney World resorts offer stunning views of the nightly fireworks displays. Imagine sipping on a drink while watching the sky light up. From the Boardwalk, Coronado Springs, or Riviera Resorts, you can catch glimpses of EPCOT’s dazzling shows. For a view of Magic Kingdom’s fireworks, consider the Contemporary, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian Resorts.
While these vantage points may not provide the same immersive experience as being inside the parks, they offer a peaceful alternative, allowing you to escape the crowds and soak in the magic at your own pace.

6. Stroll Along the World Showcase
Where else do you get to explore 11 different countries in one day? The World Showcase at EPCOT is one of the most unique places you’ll ever witness and is what separates EPCOT from every other park around the world. Dedicate ample time to wander through the eleven pavilions, each offering a unique cultural experience. Discover hidden gems, savor authentic cuisine, and don’t forget the attractions that many pavilions offer!
Soak in the ambiance and appreciate the intricate details of each country’s representation, from the iconic Eiffel Tower replica to the serene beauty of Japan’s pagoda. Whether you’re hungry, trying to relax, or simply looking for a change of pace, the World Showcase is the perfect escape.

5. Step Back and Enjoy your Surroundings
Speaking of taking in the ambience, I can’t emphasize enough how important this is to do on your trip. You’re going to feel a lot of pressure to keep running from attraction to attraction, in an attempt to not miss out on anything during your very expensive trip, but doing so will end up overwhelming you and it will take away a lot of the “magic” that Disney World offers. Indulge in a delicious treat while soaking up the enchanting atmosphere, lose yourself in the intricate details of the theming, or be captivated by the spontaneous performances of talented street entertainers. These unplanned moments often become the most cherished memories of your trip. Slow down, relax, and let the magic wash over you.

4. Go on a Safari
What’s more relaxing that being taken on a trip throughout an African savannah? While you’re at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, head on over to Kilimanjaro Safaris and search for over 30 different animal species across this 110 acre savannah. This unforgettable journey through a 110-acre wildlife preserve offers a unique opportunity to encounter over 30 different animal species in their natural habitat.
For the best chance of spotting animals in action, plan your safari for early morning when they are most active. Overcast or lightly rainy conditions can also increase wildlife sightings, as animals tend to be more visible when it’s cooler. To extend your animal encounters, explore the walking trails around Animal Kingdom or venture to Animal Kingdom Lodge to observe additional wildlife on their savannahs.

3. Visit a Lounge
Tired from walking all day and want to enjoy a relaxing dining experience, but you didn’t make any restaurant reservations? No worries. Disney World offers a variety of lounges that provide the perfect escape from the park crowds. These lounges offer a more intimate atmosphere and often serve delicious food and beverages.
Many lounges are conveniently located within walking distance of the parks, making them an ideal spot for a mid-day break or a pre-dinner cocktail. Enjoy a slow-paced meal, savor handcrafted drinks, and soak in the ambiance without the hustle and bustle of a full-service restaurant. Whether you’re looking for a romantic evening or a casual hangout, Disney’s lounges will do the job.

2. Spend a Day at your Resort
While you may want to be on-the-go everyday of your vacation, taking a day to relax at your resort will provide you with many benefits. Not only do you get to enjoy the great amenities that Disney World resorts offer, but taking a day off will allow you to recharge and regain the energy you need to enjoy the rest of the trip. Even if you think you’ll be able to power through your whole trip without taking a break, waking up at 6am, walking 15-20 thousand steps a day, and getting to bed late for a week in a row will make you sick.
Imagine waking up without an alarm, enjoying a leisurely breakfast, and then spending the day lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun, and sipping on refreshing drinks. You’ll have ample time to explore your resort’s amenities, from world-class spas to exciting recreational activities.
Not only will this downtime help you recharge your batteries, but it will also give you a fresh perspective on the parks when you return. You’ll be amazed at how much more you’ll appreciate the magic after taking a day to rest and refocus.Trust us, your future self will thank you! And if you start to feel restless, Disney Springs is just a short journey away, offering a vibrant atmosphere and endless shopping and dining options.

1. Get to the Parks Very Early
Yes, I know, I just said that waking up extremely early isn’t very relaxing, but hear me out. If you get to the parks before rope-drop (when a park first opens), the park will be way less crowded than it will be later in the day. You’ll be able to enjoy much shorter wait-times for attractions, and you’ll also be able to enjoy a peaceful walk throughout the parks without people occupying every square foot of space.
Getting to the park early will allow you to accomplish many items on your to-do list in a much shorter period of time. This will allow you to take a break in the afternoon- when the crowds are the busiest and the weather is the hottest- and then come back later in the evening to continue your day. For those who really hate early mornings, try staying at the parks late at night for another way to enjoy the parks with lighter crowds.
So, there you have it – your guide to a more relaxed Disney World vacation. It’s all about finding that perfect balance between excitement and downtime. Remember, it’s okay to slow down and savor the moment. By incorporating these tips into your trip, you’ll not only create unforgettable memories but also return home without feeling sick. So, ditch the stress, embrace the magic, and enjoy your Disney adventure to the fullest!
Remember, Disney World is about creating memories. By taking some time to relax and enjoy the little things, you’ll come home with a whole new appreciation for the magic.
